Professor Weihong ZHANG, Cheung Kong Chair Professor and Distinguished Young Scholar of National Natural Science Foundation of China, serves currently as the Vice President of Northwestern Polytechnical University. He is one of the leading researchers in the field of Computational Mechanics of Solids and Structures. His research interest covers mainly the Optimal Design of Advanced Structures and Materials, as well as Advanced Manufacturing Process. His innovative research has led to nearly 250 scientific papers published in international journals, 3 monographs and 40 invited lectures in international conferences. Besides, he is also editorial board member of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, Mechanics & Industry. Prof. ZHANG has been awarded the Second Class Award of State Natural Science Award of China (2015), the First Class Award of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province (2012, 2017) and the ASSMO Award (2016).
